Listenara

Install

Open Listenara on macOS.

Listenara is a direct-download Mac app. This first release is not notarized yet, so macOS may show an extra warning the first time you open it.

  1. Download Listenara-v1.0.0.dmg from the Download page.
  2. Open the DMG and drag Listenara.app to Applications.
  3. If macOS blocks the first launch, Right-click Listenara.app, choose Open, then choose Open again.
  4. If needed, open System Settings, Privacy & Security, then approve opening Listenara.
  5. Grant microphone, speech recognition, and system audio permissions only for audio you are authorized to record or transcribe.

Why this warning appears

The warning is about Apple notarization status, not cloud processing. Listenara still transcribes and translates on your Mac.

After Listenara opens

Listenara opens a local preview and control page. Choose Microphone or System Audio, choose translation if needed, then start and stop transcription and translation from that page.

Language choices

Listenara shows Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish in the Transcribe and Translate menus.

Actual availability depends on Apple Speech and Apple Translation support on your Mac. Transcription and translation support are related but not identical.

If a Transcribe language is not supported on your Mac, choose another Transcribe language. macOS may install speech assets when needed.

For translation, install language models in System Settings > General > Language & Region > Translation Languages.

Using Codex?

Add the optional Listenara AI skill if you want Codex to open the local preview and use the audio source you choose.
